Even what should be simple days can bring up fears and trepidation. How do I cross through this day, from morning to night. "What if's" appear out of nowhere like distant, uncertain storm brewing in the distance. Wading through the day is a task, never mind those days promising to be fraught with challenges.
Give yourself shelter as you journey through what each day brings. Cross from morning to night by bringing a talisman, cloak or some kind of umbrella to protect you. Some people carry worry beads or a rosary. Others put a small, simple stone in their pocket to absorb worry and fear. It could be wearing a favourite sweater or a scent such as lavender. A promise to oneself that a warm bath will end the day and provide the time for contemplation. All of these are healthy coping supports that keep us away from the unhealthy addictions that can be used as crutches. You can cross every bridge you come to, with your head held high -- just take a deep breath and go.
What is it that you can use to shelter yourself across the murky waters of today's uncertain river?
